Last updated 14 July 2026

A carport kit is a flat-packed, self-assembly car shelter: a rust-free aluminium frame and tough polycarbonate roof panels that two people can put up within a day, with no special tools. Nucrete supplies the full Palram Canopia range — lean-to, freestanding, arched, cantilever, double and extra-high kits — with most models in stock and delivered across most of England, Wales and Scotland.

Why choose a Palram Canopia carport kit?
Palram Canopia kits earn their place on three things: materials, engineering and back-up. The frames are solid aluminium, powder-coated in white or anthracite grey, so they never rust and need essentially no maintenance. The roof panels are UV-protected polycarbonate — virtually unbreakable, and they won't yellow or turn brittle in the sun. Every model carries a CE-approved declaration of performance and complies with snow and wind load requirements in all areas of the UK.
Nucrete is an official Palram Canopia partner, and every kit we supply comes with a written 10-year frame guarantee, with a 3-year guarantee on the roof sheets.
Can I really assemble a carport kit myself?
Yes — these kits are designed for it. Two people can generally complete assembly within a day, provided the groundworks are ready: a carport should be anchored to a solid, level surface, ideally concrete. Components arrive pre-cut and pre-drilled, and no specialist tools are needed.
You're not on your own, either. Our experience is that most people want help at some point during an installation, so every kit includes our TechAssured technical support — and the team can advise on the bits around the kit too, from base-work and wall anchors to drainage and planning questions. Delivery is typically within one to two weeks of ordering, with kits weighing from around 70kg for a small structure to 400kg for a large one.

Which carport kit should I buy?
Start with your space, not the kit. If the carport will sit against your house or a solid wall, a lean-to carport is the neatest and usually the least expensive answer. If it needs to stand in open space — beside the house, over a second parking spot — choose a freestanding kit such as the Atlas or a stand-alone model.
From there it's about what you're sheltering. Arched kits shed rain and leaves and suit period homes; cantilever kits keep one side completely post-free so car doors and pushchairs never meet a leg; double kits cover two cars; and extra-high kits give vans, motorhomes and caravans the headroom they need. Most models come in white or grey and several lengths, with add-on kits to extend later. Still unsure? Call us free on 0800 849 9036 — we'll match a kit to your measurements.
| Kit type | Best for | Post-free side? | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lean-to | Fixing to a house or solid wall | Wall-supported | The neatest, usually least-expensive option |
| Freestanding (Atlas) | Open space away from a wall | No | A driveway or second parking spot |
| Arched | Shedding rain and leaves; period homes | No | A softer, traditional look |
| Cantilever | Clear access down one side | Yes — one side fully post-free | Car doors, pushchairs, wheelchairs |
| Double | Two cars side by side | No | Wider driveways |
| Extra-high | Tall vehicles | No | Vans, motorhomes and caravans |
Carport kit questions, answered
How long does a carport kit take to install?
Two people can generally assemble a carport kit within a day, as long as the groundworks are ready. No special tools are needed, and our TechAssured support team is a phone call away if you get stuck at any stage.
What base does a carport kit need?
A solid, level surface you can anchor into — concrete is ideal. Anchoring hardware is included with the kit, and our team can advise on base-work and foundations before you order.
Do I need planning permission for a carport?
Many domestic carports can be put up without planning permission, but the rules depend on your property, and where the carport will sit. It's always worth checking with your local planning authority first — and our team is happy to talk through planning questions before you buy.
Will a carport kit stand up to British weather?
Yes. Every Palram Canopia model is engineered to comply with snow and wind load requirements in all areas of the UK, with a CE-approved declaration of performance. The aluminium frame can't rust and the polycarbonate roof is UV-protected and virtually unbreakable.
What guarantee comes with a carport kit?
A written 10-year Palram Canopia guarantee on the aluminium frame, and a 3-year guarantee on the polycarbonate roof sheets. Spare parts are available too, so a damaged panel never means a new carport.
How much does a carport kit cost?
Prices depend on the style and length you choose — the product cards above show the current From-price for every kit, and the carport and canopy prices page has the full picture. Prices are fixed nationwide and include delivery.
Can a carport be fixed to block paving, or does it need concrete?
It needs a solid, level surface you can anchor into. Concrete is ideal; a well-laid block-paved or slabbed area can work if it's stable and level, sometimes with concrete pads at the post positions. Our team can advise on your specific surface before you order, and we lay concrete bases too.
What wind and snow loads are carport kits rated to?
Every Palram Canopia model carries a CE-approved declaration of performance and is engineered to comply with snow and wind load requirements across all areas of the UK. If you're in an exposed or high-snowfall location, tell us and we'll point you to the strongest models for the conditions.
Do you deliver carport kits to Scotland and Wales?
Yes — we deliver across most of England, Wales and Scotland, typically within one to two weeks of ordering, with delivery included in the price. If you're on a Scottish island or in a remote postcode, get in touch and we'll confirm before you order.
Can I extend a carport kit later?
Many models take add-on bay kits, so you can start with the length you need now and extend along the same line later. Check the individual product page for the kit you're considering, or ask us and we'll confirm what's extendable.
