Which garden gazebo should I choose?
It comes down to the roof and how enclosed you want it. A flat or arched polycarbonate roof keeps things light and lets daylight through — ideal over a dining set or seating area. A hardtop roof gives a solid, room-like feel and the most shade, well suited to a hot tub or an outdoor kitchen. If you want to keep the wind and insects out, an enclosed gazebo adds netting or side panels. If your shelter needs to attach to the house rather than stand free, look at the garden canopies and patio covers instead.

A gazebo should be anchored to a solid, level base — concrete or paving is ideal — using suitable ground anchors, which is what lets a lightweight aluminium structure stand up to British weather. A gazebo is freestanding — it stands on its own legs anywhere in the garden and brings its own roof. A canopy or patio cover fixes to the house to shelter a patio or doorway. If you want permanent cover out in the garden, a gazebo is the right tool; if it needs to attach to the wall, choose a canopy.
Can a garden gazebo stay up all year?
