What do people order around Birmingham?
The Midlands mix skews a little differently to elsewhere — more replacement work on older housing, and more buildings bought to take a work van. These are the kinds of job we do most often here, representative of a normal week rather than any one build.
- Replacing an asbestos-roofed garage behind an inter-war semi. The bread-and-butter West Midlands job. The old building comes down and goes away under licence, we lay a fresh base, and a single apex goes up — usually 8'5" or 9'5" wide with a 7ft up and over door.

- A lean-to down the side of a terrace. Where the only space is the strip between the house and the boundary, the building bolts to your gable wall and turns it into secure storage — often with a wide rear door so bikes and a mower can go straight through.
- A concrete workshop instead of another shed. Usually bought after the last timber one gave up. A window over the bench and a personnel door make the difference between storage and a room you use.
What if access to the back is tight?
This is the question we get asked most in Birmingham, and it's usually less of a problem than people fear. A garage nearly always sits at the end of a driveway, which is the easiest delivery there is. Where it doesn't — a rear entry between terraces, a shared drive, a gate that has to come off — it's still normally workable.
What matters is telling us beforehand rather than on the day. A narrow entry, a low branch, a tight turn off the street, a neighbour's car that's always there: mention it when you order and we plan around it. Where we're crossing a lawn to reach the plot we lay boards down first, which protects the turf and stops the trolley digging in and getting stuck.

Can you remove the old garage and lay the base?
Yes, and across the West Midlands it's how most jobs run. Housing of a certain age around here often has an asbestos cement roof on the old garage, which we remove under licence rather than leaving you to arrange it.
We take the old building away, lay the new base and install the replacement as one job, with one company answerable for the lot. If we lay the base, the building is guaranteed to fit it. If you'd rather use your own builder, we'll liaise with them on the specification so the slab is right before we arrive.
