What sort of garages do people order around Manchester?
A fair cross-section, and the pattern is consistent enough that we can usually guess before the survey. Below are the kinds of job we do most often across the region — representative of our normal week rather than any one customer's build.
- Replacing a tired 1960s garage on a semi. The classic North West job. An old sectional or asbestos-roofed garage comes down, we take it away, lay a fresh base and put up a single apex — usually 8'5" or 9'5" wide by 16'3" or 18'3" long, with a 7ft up and over door. Nearly always a straight run down the side of the house to the drive, so access is simple.
- A double for two cars on a newer estate. Typically 16'5" × 16'3" or, where the plot allows, 20'5" × 20'3" for two cars with room to open the doors. Two up and over doors, two 4ft windows as standard, and often a personnel door in the side so nobody has to lift the main door to fetch the bins.
- A workshop at the bottom of the garden. Usually a pent roof building, chosen because the lower roofline sits under a boundary fence line without upsetting anyone. Add a window over where the bench will go and a side door, and it stops being storage and starts being a room you use.
- An extra-height garage for a van or campervan. Common around the region's trades. The taller panels take a Transit or a camper without ducking, and a roller door earns its money here because nothing swings out into the drive.
- A lean-to down the side return. Terraces and semis with a narrow strip beside the house — the building bolts to your gable wall and turns dead space into secure storage, often with a wide rear door so bikes and a mower can go straight through to the garden.
What happens on installation day?
The base has to be finished and cured for at least a week before we arrive, so base work is always an earlier, separate visit. On the day itself, the panels come off the lorry and the building goes up in hours rather than days — half a day for most singles, about a day for a double.
Access is rarely the problem people expect it to be. A garage nearly always sits at the end of a driveway, which is about the easiest delivery there is. Where we're crossing a lawn to reach the plot, we lay boards down first — it protects the turf and stops the trolley digging in and getting stuck, which matters more after a wet Manchester week than it sounds.
What we do want to know beforehand is the awkward stuff: a shared driveway, a tight corner off the street, a low branch or a narrow entry between houses. Tell us when you order, not on the day, and we'll plan around it.

Can you take the old garage away and lay the base?
Yes — and across the North West it's how most jobs run. We remove the old building, including licensed asbestos removal where the old roof needs it, lay the new base, and install the garage, with one company answerable for the lot.
If we lay the base, the building is guaranteed to fit it. If you'd rather use your own builder we'll liaise with them on the specification instead, so the slab is right before we turn up.

Which range should I look at?

How long does installation take?

What if access to my garden is awkward?
Tell us when you order rather than on the day. Most garages sit at the end of a driveway so access is straightforward, and where we cross a lawn we lay boards to protect the turf and keep the trolley from sinking. Shared drives, narrow entries and tight corners are all workable — we just need to know first.
Can you remove my old asbestos garage?
Yes, under licence, and it's a common part of North West jobs where the old roof is asbestos cement. We remove the old building, lay the new base and install the replacement as one job.
