A roller door buys you back the ceiling and the space in front of the door. For some drives, that's the difference between a garage that works and one that doesn't.
A roller garage door coils up into a compact drum above the opening instead of tilting back into the roof. Nucrete supplies roller doors in widths from 7ft up to 14ft, in a choice of colours, on both single and double garages.
The two reasons people choose one are space and convenience: nothing swings out into the drive, nothing takes up the roof area inside, and it can be operated by remote from the car.
When is a roller door worth it?
Three situations make it an easy decision. If your drive is short and a tilting door would swing into the pavement or a parked car, a roller door removes the problem entirely. If you want roof storage inside the garage, a roller door leaves the whole ceiling clear. And if you'll be in and out of the building in the dark and the rain, opening it from the car is worth real money.
If none of those apply and the garage is a straightforward one on a normal drive, the standard up and over door does the job perfectly well and costs less.
What size roller door do I need?
We supply roller doors from 7ft to 14ft wide, so you can match the door to the building and the drive rather than the other way round. As with any garage door, the approach angle matters more than the car — if you turn in sharply from a narrow drive, go wider.

Roller doors come in a range of colours rather than the standard white of the up and over door, which is the other reason people choose them — it's the simplest way to make the garage sit with the house rather than stand out from it.

Are roller doors secure?
A powered roller door with the motor engaged is difficult to force, because the motor itself holds the curtain down along its whole width rather than at a couple of lock points. There is no handle to lever and no single catch to defeat.
As with any garage, most of the security comes from the door being fitted properly into the structure by people who know the building. We fit ours with our own teams.

Do roller doors need more headroom?
They need room above the opening for the drum, but almost none behind it — which is the point. You keep the ceiling space inside, unlike an up and over door which slides back into the roof area.
Can I still open it if the power goes off?
Yes — powered roller doors have a manual override so you're never locked out or locked in. We'll show you how it works when we hand the building over.
How much more is a roller door than the standard door?
It's a priced option rather than a fixed uplift, because it depends on the width and specification you choose. Request the price list or ask for a quote and we'll give you the figure for your building — usually the same day or the next.
Is the roller door covered by the guarantee?
The building structure carries our 10-year factory guarantee. The door carries its own manufacturer's warranty; we'll tell you the term for the door you choose before you order.
